In 1877, when a father and son founded what would become Environmental Textile Products (then Brown & Brown), they didn’t just set out to sell dry goods. They set out to solve problems for a growing nation. As the world changed, we changed with it—not to chase trends, but to ensure that when the world’s innovators faced “Environmental Friction,” they had a shield they could count on.
The Foundation – Founded in Mobile, Alabama, as Brown & Brown. We began by providing the essential dry goods that built the local community.
Technical Precision – As global conflict demanded rapid innovation, we pivoted into the high-stakes “cut and sew” industry. We developed the technical expertise in geomembrane liners and heavy-duty canvas that still protects industrial assets today.
Becoming ETP – Under the leadership of John K. Robinson, we officially became Engineered Textile Products. This era marked our expansion into specialized divisions, including the launch of ETP Race Marks and Artcraft Awning Company.
July 1, 2026 – Now led by Ken Robinson, we are embarking on our most significant evolution yet. We are reclaiming our identity as Environmental Textile Products, organizing our 150 years of expertise into five specialized divisions designed to protect your vision with surgical precision.
Our history has taught us that protection isn’t “one size fits all.” That is why we have refined our expertise into five distinct powerhouses:
You aren’t just buying a fabric cover; you are investing in a century-and-a-half of trial, error, and ultimate success. We’ve survived economic shifts, world wars, and technological revolutions by staying true to one goal: Protecting what matters most to you.
When you partner with ETP, you aren’t just hiring a vendor. You are enlisting a fifth-generation legacy of master fabricators who believe your vision deserves a permanent shield.
Most history pages are about the past. At Environmental Textile Products, our history is about your future. We’ve spent 150 years perfecting the ‘Master Fabricator’ standard so that when you face an environmental challenge, you don’t have to guess if your shield will hold—you already know it will.
