Debris Removal
Keep your awning clear of leaves, twigs, and nesting materials. Organic debris traps moisture against the fabric, which can lead to staining and premature wear.
Gentle Cleaning
For stubborn spots, use a soft-bristle brush and a mild, natural soap (like Woolite or Dawn). Never use harsh chemicals or pressure washers, as these can strip the fabric’s protective UV coating. Always refer to fabric-specific instructions when able.
Hardware Inspection
Every few months, inspect the metal frame and mounting points. Ensure bolts are tight and check for any signs of oxidation and rust, especially in our salt-air Gulf Coast environment.
Retractable Care
If you have a motorized system, ensure the path is clear of obstructions before operating. Never leave a retractable awning extended during high-wind events or heavy downpours.
Air Dry Only
Always allow your fabric awning to dry completely before retracting or folding it for long periods. Storing a wet awning is the fastest way to invite mildew and odors.
