Precision Inflation

Never over-inflate. Air expands rapidly in the sun after racemarks are deployed. Inflate your marks until they are firm but still have a slight “give” to accommodate the heat of the day. You want the racemark to be soft to the touch

Strategic Anchoring

Distribute the load. When anchoring in heavy current or wind, utilize a bridle system to spread tension across multiple attachment points. This prevents unnecessary stress on the textile and ensures the mark stays vertical.

The Post-Race Rinse

Salt is the enemy of longevity. Always rinse your marks with fresh water after every event. This removes salt crystals and grime that can abrade the fabric and dull the vibrant colors of your course.

Safe Cleaning Practices

Use gentle chemistry. Clean marks with a soft-bristle brush and a mild, natural soap. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or high-pressure washers, which can damage the high-frequency welded seams and UV coatings.

Total Dry Storage

Never store a wet mark. Ensure your equipment is 100% dry before folding and placing it in a storage bag. Trapped moisture is the primary cause of mildew and “storage rot” that compromises the textile.
